Expression Pattern :

Pattern  Confocal microscopy analyses revealed that myt-1 was mostly expressed in body wall muscles, neurons, and intestine early during development, while it was mainly expressed in muscles and neurons in adulthood. Next, we tested myt-1 expression in 11-day-old C. elegans (counting day 0 at L4 stage) and identified an increased expression in neurons and muscles compared with younger (3-day-old) animals, confirming an age-related regulation also in C. elegans. Finally, because the initial screening was based on genes induced when nutrients are reduced, we tested whether this expression was affected by 24 hours of starvation. Consistently, GFP signal was dramatically increased by fasting, especially in body wall muscles. Thus, C. elegans replicates the mammalian tissue-pattern and age-dependent expression of MYTHO. Definition Name Synonym Primary Identifier
neuron with cell body associated with the ventral nerve cord. ventral cord neuron ventral cord motoneuron WBbt:0005300
A chain of very large cuboidal cells forming a wide central lumen in which food arrives from the posterior pharynx, is digested, and from which waste products proceed to the rectum. Intestinal rings form in groups of two and four cells surrounding the common lumen; thus the epithelium is only one cell deep at any point, with neighboring cells firmly secured to their neighbors by apical adherens junctions. These cells have very large nuclei and many large vacuoles, yolk granules, and other inclusions; the latter increase in number and electron density as the animal ages. intestine gut WBbt:0005772
somatic cell that situates at the tip of a gonad arm. distal tip cell DTC WBbt:0006865
type of cells that make up muscle layers in the pharynx. pharyngeal muscle cell   WBbt:0005451
Longitudinal bands of muscle cells surrounding animal body, with one band running in each quadrant of the body, regulated contraction and relaxation of these muscles cause locomotion. body wall musculature body muscle WBbt:0005813
muscle associated with hermaphrodite vulva. vulval muscle   WBbt:0005821
a saddle-shaped muscle cell that encircles the intestinal-rectal valve anal sphincter muscle lineage name: ABprpppppap WBbt:0005798
Major cell type of nervous tissue, specialized for transmission of information in the form of patterns of impulses. neuron neurone WBbt:0003679
the most extensive region of neuropil in the animal, consists of a large toroidal bundle of processes. nerve ring circumpharyngeal nerve ring WBbt:0006749
neuron making synapse on an effector (muscle, gland). motor neuron motoneuron WBbt:0005409
intestinal muscle cell, attach to intestine and body wall anterior to anus intestinal muscle stomato-intestinal muscle WBbt:0005796
neuron of the amphid sensillum amphid neuron amphid sensory neuron WBbt:0005394
five pairs of thin gonadal sheath cells form a single layer covering the germ line component of each arm, each pair occupying a stereotyped position along the gonad proximal-distal axis. gonadal sheath cell   WBbt:0005828
anchor cell, induces vulva, part of hermaphrodite gonad. anchor cell AC WBbt:0004522
Neuron class of one ring interneuron, cell body in dorsorectal ganglion, inervates rectal muscles. DVB lineage name: K.p WBbt:0004822
