| Subcellular Localization | Localized to chromosome-associated foci that were most prominent in the transition zone and very early pachytene. At the onset of meiosis, ZIM-2 was detected at no more than two foci. By early pachytene, ZIM-2 was consistently detected as a single focus in each nucleus. Colocalization with HIM-8 staining indicate that the foci of ZIM protein corresponded to autosomal pairing centers, most probably to the chromosomes that missegregate in the corresponding mutants. |
